A few things to read, to learn a lot about Travelstormer
Our Story
Travelstormer was formed by a couple of keen travellers who reckon Travel Planning for groups is far from solved.
Travelstormer is a solution not only to our own problems but to all small and large groups facing the pain of planning with email and excel spreadsheets.
Please take a look around and sign up, we'd love to hear what you think.
Case Study
Five friends haven’t seen each another in yonks. With so much water under the bridge since they last crossed paths, what better way to catch up than scratching their itchy feet...Trip Setup and RSVP's
Making good decisions should be the start of any epic trip.-
Dave sets up a trip on www.travelstormer.com (which takes all of 5 seconds and costs him nothing) but he doesn’t know where he and his friends are going or when. No biggie, as that's pretty normal at this point.
-
What he does know are his friends’ email addresses, so he punches them into the Trip Wizard and that's pretty much it for the setup.
-
His friends receive their emails and some decide to confirm right away, while others remember what happened last time they were together and stay unconfirmed.
Brainstorm and Time/Date decisions
Making good decisions should be the start of any epic trip.
-
One step ahead of the group, Travelstormer has created a ‘Brainstorm’ to help the group decide where they’re headed and a 'Time/Date decision' to decide when they're leaving.
-
The trip begins to take shape as the group starts researching by adding destination ideas to the list along with links to photos and websites.
-
A date that might suit someone may fall on an important knitting class for another, so everyone pencils in their favoured choice.
-
The group then exercises democracy with a poll to vote and settle on these ideas.
The Calendar
Down-to-the-minute or free-roaming itineraries. Iron out your trip events with the calendar.-
As the decisions unfold from the voting and comments in the brainstorm, the group are excited to choose Italy as the destination from the 20th-30th March (except Terry who hates pasta but was outvoted).
-
The calendar starts taking shape as the decisions automatically slide into place displaying the visual itinerary.
-
Now the group know when and where they're headed, events start getting added into the calendar. However, Terry’s shoe shopping event is a debatable one for the group and is turned into a brainstorm for group discussion.
Flights
Know what flights your friends are on so you can join them (or not)
-
With the dates all locked in, everyone can start booking flights. Dudley books his first and logs the details into the flights section for the group to see.
-
Jerry's not quite as organised as Dudley and misses out on the same flight; he logs his different flight details in for the group to see.
-
The rest of the group can easily add themselves to the flight they're on and see who’s joining them without the email diarrhoea.
Expenses
Keep tabs on the IOU’s with simple expense tracking and payment management from Expensure-
A majority vote on a poll for ‘who has the most money’ sees Jerry assigned the task of paying for the Villa, Car, and Deposit.
-
Jerry enters these details into Expenses and Travelstormer lets everyone know what they owe him. Dudley, who’s Scottish, also adds the footy tickets to the expenses.
-
Expensure does the math, cancels out the payments that don’t need to be made and adjusts what everyone owes.
-
The entire group then settles their debts, each with one click using PayPal.
Tasks and Messages
Make sure all the boxes are ticked for a smooth going trip
-
Freddy assigns Dudley the task of getting tickets to a big football game.
-
Dudley receives an email telling him he's been assigned the task and gets to work finding the tickets. A couple of phone calls later, Dudley confirms the tickets and checks off the task.
-
Dudley then fires off a group message to let them know it's all go for the game, and a private message about plans for Freddy's birthday.
